Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity's second home built this year was sponsored by Lincoln Financial Group and will be dedicated on Sunday, May 18th at 4907 Webster Street. The Dedication ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m., with an Open House scheduled from 1 - 3:00 p.m.
This home will be sold to Carmen Swain who has one daughter, Katiedra (age 5). Carmen enrolled in Habitats home ownership program in February 2002 and has worked hard at completing her 300 sweat equity hours and six required classes, which Habitat designed to help families become successful homeowners.
Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that uses volunteer labor to build simple, decent, affordable homes through partnership with low-income Fort Wayne families. Once completed, the homes are sold at no profit to the family on a 20-year interest-free mortgage. Because of volunteer involvement, the cost of a standard three-bedroom home is approximately $46,500 and the monthly payment under $300 (including taxes and insurance).
If you would like to join the Habitat effort as a volunteer or have any questions, please call Charles Mason or Randy Fillmore at 420-9919 or visit fortwaynehabitat.org.
