What are the age restrictions?
The minimum age to volunteer is 16. Any person under 18 must complete the minor liability waiver and have it signed by a parent or guardian before volunteering.
Is experience needed to volunteer on the build site?
No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn!
What volunteer opportunities are available?
The ReStore needs volunteers during all store hours Tuesday through Saturday. Click here for details.
Habitat for Humanity is also always looking for volunteers to assist with office support, hospitality, committees and photography. Click here for details.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
Habitat provides necessary tools, safety equipment and water to volunteers on the build site and at the ReStore.
What should I wear?
Please make sure to wear closed toe shoes and dress for the weather both at the ReStore and on the build site. Shorts may be worn as long as they are at least finger-length. Please do not wear sleeveless shirts. Any clothing with disturbing messages or provocative in nature, which others may find offensive or suggestive, is prohibited.
Can I complete court-ordered community service?
Habitat for Humanity does accept court ordered community service volunteers. Please visit our community service page and complete our community service application.
Where is the worksite?
All construction is taking place in Fuller’s Landing, 4308 W. Cook Rd, just west of Cook and Huguenard roads.
Where is the ReStore?
The ReStore is located at 3837 N. Wells St., just south of the Coliseum and Lima intersection.
Is there parking available for volunteers?
Volunteer Parking in Fuller's Landing is located in the lot across from the model home.
The ReStore has designated volunteering parking just north of the donation drop-off canopy.
What happens when there is bad weather?
We make every attempt to work "rain or shine" as long as site conditions are still safe for our volunteers. In the case of inclement weather please check the "Recent News" section of the Fort Wayne Habitat website or Facebook page for weather delays or cancellations. You may also call 260.409.9140 and listen for an updated voicemail message. Updates will be posted by 7 a.m. the day of the build.
